Clean Air Month Participants Save 7,631 Lbs. of Emissions and Gas Money, Too.
Brenda Cooper works for the Department of Children and Families in downtown West Palm Beach commuting each day from the Treasure Coast. By sharing the ride to work eleven days during the month of May, Brenda reduced her carbon footprint by 1,572 lbs. of emissions. Susan Schmidt works from her home but entered the Clean Air Month contest by pledging to reduce trips to the grocery store. Susan succeeded by riding her bicycle to the store twice in May, saving 17 lbs. of emissions. Susan and Brenda saved money on gas, too. Overall, participants reduced 7,631 lbs. of emissions from spewing into the atmosphere. Clean Air month participants rode bicycles, buses, carpooled, vanpooled, and rode Tri-Rail. New Express Commuter Options for Commuters from Wellington and the Treasure Coast
Treasure Coast commuters working in downtown West Palm Beach can ride the new Commuter Express Bus from the Halpatiokee Regional Park at Kenner Highway and I-95 in Stuart. Ride the Commuter Express in a hybrid bus with free Wi-Fi. Click here for a detailed route and map schedule.
Commuters from Wellington traveling to downtown West Palm Beach now have a new transportation option. The Village of Wellington and the Florida Department of Transportation have opened a new park and ride with 140 parking spaces on Wellington Green Drive behind the Estates Shopping Center near the mall at Wellington Green. Palm Tran route 40 will take commuters from the park and ride lot to the downtown West Palm Beach Intermodal Center in about 35 minutes with its new limited stop express service. Ride Your Bicycle to Downtown West Palm Beach or Northwood Village?
The City of West Palm Beach Transportation Management Initiative (TMI) has rolled out the Bike Parking program for downtown West Palm Beach and Northwood Village. The city has installed a total of 43 bike racks throughout the area and installed bike lockers in the Banyan parking garage.
