826/836 Incentive Program
Cash Incentives Starting February 2012!
South Florida Commuter Services’ 826/836 incentive program provides cash incentives to commuters impacted by the 826/836 reconstruction project that carpool, vanpool, or use transit. Qualified commuters will receive monthly cash incentives starting at $25 per month.
In order to qualify, commuters must travel within the incentive zone identified around the project area. The project area is defined as: West Boundary (NW 87th Avenue), East Boundary (NW 57th Avenue), South Boundary (SW 8th Street), & North Boundary (NW 25th Street). CARPOOL INCENTIVE PROGRAM
A carpool is defined as two or more people riding together in the same vehicle to commute to work. All registered carpool groups that qualify for the 826/836 incentive program will receive a monthly subsidy per carpooler for one year.
Incentives are available based on the number of individuals participating in the carpool:
2 or more carpoolers receive $25.00 a month per carpooler
3 or more carpoolers receive $50.00 a month per carpooler
4 or more carpoolers receive $75.00 a month per carpooler

- Must carpool 16 days or more per month.
- Cannot consist of commuters from the same household. Must maintain an active registration with SFCS. Incentives will only be provided to carpool groups that accurately report their carpool information in accordance with the SFCS requirements.
- Cannot have an origin and destination within the incentive zone.

VANPOOL INCENTIVE PROGRAM
A vanpool is made up of five to 15 people who commute together in a passenger van provided by South Florida Vanpools (SFVP). One or more members of the group volunteers to drive with each rider sharing the cost of operating the van. The Miami-Dade Metropolitan Planning Organization provides SFVP groups with a $400.00 subsidy towards the monthly lease cost of the van.
The 826/836 incentive will provide additional subsidies to qualified SFVP vanpool groups for one year. Subsidies provided to groups will not exceed 50% of the monthly cost charged to the vanpool riders. This includes groups which receive additional vanpool incentives through their respective employers. To view an example, click here.

- Must consist of at least five registered commuters.
- Must be in existence for three calendar months prior to being eligible for the subsidy. The subsidy will be provided beginning in the fourth month.
- Must maintain an active registration with SFVP. Incentives will only be provided to vanpools that accurately report their vanpool information in accordance with the SFVP requirements. In addition, if at any time during the year, the vanpool goes below the qualified ridership, the registration is no longer valid and the vanpool must begin the process again.

TRANSIT INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Transit provides economical transportation to a variety of destinations using buses and trains. Transit works well for commuters working a regular schedule and live or work near a transit stop.
Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) Metrorail riders that travel carpool to the Palmetto Metrorail station will receive a monthly $25.00 incentive and the use of preferential parking (available on a first come first serve basis).

- Must carpool with at least one other commuter to and from the station. Carpool groups cannot consist of commuters living in the same household.
- Must be a monthly MDT Easy Card user.
- Must travel to the Civic Center area or South of the Civic Center area.
WeCar INCENTIVE PROGRAM
The WeCar Program is a membership-based car sharing program that allows registered commuters to rent a vehicle on a short-term basis. The WeCar program is perfect to utilize for a doctor’s appointment, a lunch meeting, or personal errands.
A special incentive plan has been developed for commuters who participate in the 826/836 incentive program and travel to work in the Brickell, Downtown or Civic Center areas using an alternative mode of transportation. The plan provides 10 hours of WeCar usage with a waived annual registration fee.
THE EMERGENCY RIDE HOME PROGRAM
The Emergency Ride Home (ERH) program provides free taxi service for registered commuters in the event of an unexpected emergency 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The program is available to registered South Florida Commuter Services commuters who carpool, vanpool, or ride transit to work at least three days a week.
As an additional incentive, commuters registered in the 826/836 incentive program will be automatically enrolled in the ERH program.
