What is the criteria SFCS uses to determine carpool eligibility? - Read More
If any member of the carpool does not meet the criteria, the carpool registration request will be rejected unless additional information is provided that would constitute a 3+ commuter carpool.

All carpool participants will sign the carpool registration form prior to submitting it to SFCS acknowledging that the information they provided is accurate or check the box online.

All personal information, including home address and home phone number, submitted to SFCS will only be used to register a carpool and provide 95 Express Lanes information and/or decal to the user. Personal information will be kept confidential and is only accessible by SFCS and SunPass and will only be used for the 95 Express Lanes 3+ carpool registration. SFCS has the right to verify any and all information, including employment, for any commuters submitting a registration.  At any time, if a commuters submitted information is unable to be verified, the registration may be denied or terminated from the program.

If a participant plans on using their personal vehicle in the carpool, they are required to provide their license number and tag information; if they are only a rider in the carpool, SFCS will only need their home/work information. If you receive a new tag number, you must contact us with the information to avoid being charged tolls. The new tag number will be updated in your file and shared with SunPass.

The maximum number of decals that can be requested by a carpool is one per individual in the carpool. Carpool participants will receive a renewal request every six months. The carpool participant will be provided two reminders to renew their registration with SFCS.

If a carpool participant does not renew with SFCS, the participant will be placed in an “inactive status” and SunPass will be notified to remove their license plate from the eligible list. If other participants in the carpool continue their registration and have at least three members in their carpool, they will still be considered an active carpool.

Will I still need a transponder if my vehicle is registered? -
Read More
YES! If you wish to use the 95 Express lanes without your carpool partners, you are required to have a SunPass transponder in the vehicle to pay for the tolls. If you currently have a SunPass transponder and using the 95 Express lanes with your carpool partners or as a Hybrid user, it is essential that you either remove it from the windshield and place it in an RF shield bag or utilize the tag disabler shield if it is a SunPass Mini tag. It is your responsibility to properly shield the transponder, otherwise the tolls will be debited from your SunPass account. For more information or if you need a RF Shield Bag or tag disabler, please contact SFCS at 1-800-234-RIDE or email sfcs@1800234RIDE.com.

For disabler plate instructions, please click here.

Motorcycles: Please remember to shield your transponder on 95 Express. If you travel through adjacent toll plazas, for your safety please place the transponder in the shield bag prior to beginning your trip.
