Carpool Parking Program Rules and Regulations
What is the Carpool Parking Program?
The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale has implemented the Carpool Parking Program as a new benefit for student and faculty/staff carpool groups. Those enrolled in the Carpool Parking Program will be permitted to utilize the Visitor’s Spaces on campus while there are at least two individuals in a vehicle.
Who can park in the Carpool Parking Spaces?
In order to utilize the spaces, you must register at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Supply Store. All registered individuals will receive a permit to display in the vehicle being used. Keep in mind that students and faculty/staff are not permitted to ride to and from campus together.
Where are the Carpool Parking Spaces located?
Student carpool groups can park at the Main Building or Harbor Walk. Faculty/Staff carpool groups can park at the Main Building, Harbor Walk, or Harbor Place. Use of Visitor’s Spaces is permitted. Unauthorized use of Honored Employee and Handicapped Spaces is not permitted. The spaces are available on a “first come, first served” basis.
Do I need to own a car in order to enroll in the Carpool Parking Program?
One permit is provided to each individual who wants to register for the program, regardless of whether or not they have a vehicle.
How do I get a permit?
Register at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale Supply Store.
Can I use the spaces when I am driving alone?
No. You can not utilize the Carpool Parking Spaces on days that you do not share the ride with at least one other individual to campus.
Do I always have to share the ride with the same individuals in order to use the Carpool Parking Spaces?
No. Your carpool group can be interchangeable, so long as there are at least two individuals in the vehicle and a valid Carpool Parking Permit is displayed.
Who monitors the spaces?
The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale security and facilities staff monitor the spaces on an ongoing basis.
What happens if I am found violating the program?
If you utilize the Carpool Parking Spaces while driving alone, or if you do not display a valid Carpool Parking Permit, you will receive a ticket on the first offense. On the second offense, we will issue a warning sticker and potential suspension of Carpool Parking privileges.
